OPEN CALL for the new Magazine

We are excited to announce the 2026 edition of NOD MAGAZINE!

This year's theme explores something fundamental to human existence, something that has shaped us since our species first appeared on Earth. Community was essential for survival, enabling evolution and advancing humanity to new levels of development.

What is the first community in everyone's life? Mother and child. Then comes your family, one of the earliest communities you belong to.

Do you feel comfortable in a community, or do you prefer solitude? Are you a team player? What does community do for you? What does it provide? What does it offer? If there are benefits, what are they? Are there communities you cannot escape?

There are countless types of communities, which one comes to mind first when you hear the word?

Community is a concept with multiple dimensions. Two familiar sayings illustrate this complexity: "God helps those who help themselves" versus "It's comforting to count on someone who stands by your side."

But community doesn't have to be emotional. It can simply be a logistical structure, a group of people working together toward a common goal.

Community can provide stability, even on a molecular level. Communities can transcend boundaries, but they can also define territories. Some span generations; others are temporary phenomena that quickly become obsolete.

On a communicative level, jewelry functions as a marker of belonging, as code, as non-verbal language. Some jewelry only "works" within a community: status symbols and rank insignia are meaningless without a community that can interpret them.

Anthropology reveals tribal societies and clan structures, initiation communities, craft guilds, and nomadic groups. World religions form ritual communities, alongside shamanic circles, mystery cults, mourning communities, and wedding traditions.

Ideological communities emerge in politics, while subcultural and identity-based groups include LGBTQ+ communities, ethnic minorities, and various scenes and subcultures.

Whatever community means to you—apply it! We are eager to see your concepts, stories, and pieces.
